"Final Fantasy IV" is an electronic role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix), first released in 1991 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The story follows dark knight Cecil as he attempts to stop the sorcerer Golbez from consuming the world. Throughout the journey, party members come and go for various reasons. The title introduces the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, adding tension and excitement to combat. Each character has a fixed class with unique skills and magic. The game features a linear storyline that players advance along a set path, with a few side quests adding variety. As "Final Fantasy II" and "Final Fantasy III" were not released outside Japan at the time, this game initially launched in North America as "Final Fantasy II" to align with local numbering. Subsequent ports and remasters have since restored the original title. With its rich story, innovative battle system, and beautiful music, "Final Fantasy IV" became a classic of the RPG genre and influenced countless games that followed.
