Pokémon Silver Version is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak for the Game Boy Color, released in Japan on November 21, 1999. As the second generation of the Pokémon series, it is set in the new Johto region, where players begin their journey from New Bark Town and strive to become the Pokémon Champion. The game adds 100 new Pokémon, including Mew and Celebi, bringing the total to 251. Players must earn eight Gym Badges before challenging the Elite Four and Champion. After completing Johto, they can travel to Kanto, take on its eight Gym Leaders, and face the previous game's protagonist, Red, deep inside Mt. Silver. A day-and-night cycle splits time into morning, day, and night, influencing which Pokémon appear, while a weekly calendar triggers special events on certain days. A in-game watch and PokéGear phone system let players listen to radio broadcasts and stay in touch with trainers met along the way.
