PlayStation 2

The PlayStation 2 (PS2) is Sony's sixth-generation home console, released in Japan on March 4, 2000. With its Emotion Engine CPU and 32 MB of RAM, it became the best-selling home console of all time, with about 160 million units sold. Its built-in DVD player was a major selling point, as the console cost about the same as a standalone DVD player, making it an extremely attractive entertainment center. The PS2 was backward-compatible with nearly all PlayStation 1 games and accessories. Its massive library of up to 3,847 games includes GTA: San Andreas (17.33 million), Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 2, God of War, and Kingdom Hearts. Production continued until January 4, 2013.
