The Sega Saturn is Sega's 32-bit fifth-generation home console, launched in Japan on November 22, 1994, with a surprise early North American release on May 11, 1995 (four months ahead of schedule), and in Europe on July 8, 1995. The Saturn employed a complex architecture with dual 32-bit RISC SH2 processors at 28.6 MHz plus a 20 MHz SH1, with advanced 2D capabilities and ambitious 3D performance. It featured 16 Mbit work RAM, 12 Mbit video RAM, and powerful CD-ROM capability. Virtua Fighter, a faithful port of the arcade hit, sold almost one-to-one with the console in Japan — 200,000 units on day one.
