Contra
Contra is KONAMI's side-scrolling shooter series, in which two tough soldiers battle alien armies. Players guide the duo — one human and his comrade — with machine guns, shotguns, energy weapons and sometimes mounts, fighting through levels swept by crossfire from every direction. Tight controls, demanding difficulty and the depth of co-op play are hallmarks of a series that keeps renewing the pleasure of multidirectional shooting and side-scrolling action.
