Pokémon Silver Version is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak for the Game Boy Color, released in Japan on November 21, 1999. As part of the second generation of the Pokémon series, it is set in the new Johto region, where players begin their journey from New Bark Town and strive to become the Pokémon Champion. The game adds 100 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 251, and features a day-and-night cycle that affects which Pokémon appear at different times of day. A weekly calendar triggers special events on specific days, such as weekly brother and sister appearances and time-limited Pokémon encounters. Players can listen to broadcasts through their watch and use the PokéGear phone system to stay in touch with trainers met on their journey, receiving news about rare sightings, valuable items, and rematches. After completing Johto, players can travel to Kanto, challenge its eight Gyms, and face the previous protagonist Red deep inside Mt. Silver.
