Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland is an RPG developed by Enix (now Square Enix) and released on September 25, 1998 for the Game Boy Color. The protagonist is a young version of Terry from Dragon Quest VI, with the story taking place before the events of that game. One night, Terry's sister Milena is kidnapped by a creature named Badbo. To rescue her, Terry—guided by the spirit Mumu—heads to the Great Tree, becomes a monster wrangler, and enters the Star Snaring Festival, hoping to fulfill his wish of bringing his sister home. Gameplay revolves around exploring auto-generated dungeons, collecting and raising over 200 monsters, and assembling teams for turn-based battles. Through fighting and breeding, players can create stronger monsters to take on tougher dungeons and rivals. The game was a major success in Japan, selling over 2.35 million copies. Often compared to Pokémon for its monster-collection gameplay, Dragon Quest Monsters stands out thanks to its unique world and deep systems, earning the love of players worldwide.
